1. Introduction
Groopay ("the app", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use the app.
2. Information We Collect
- Account and profile information: Your name and email address provided through Google or Apple for authentication. We do not store passwords.
- Group and expense data: Groups, expenses, split details, settlements, and payment history associated with your account.
- Preferences: Language, preferred currency, display name, and avatar color.
- Subscription information: Your Pro subscription status. Apple or Google processes payment details; Groopay does not receive card or billing information.
- Device data: App and operating system information needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
Groopay does not store IBAN or bank account information. We do not collect precise location data, build advertising profiles, or use third-party advertising SDKs.
4. How We Use Information
- Provide group management, expense splitting, balance, and settlement features
- Authenticate and secure your account
- Verify and manage Pro subscription access
- Maintain and improve app reliability
5. Data Sharing
We never sell personal data or share it for advertising or marketing. Limited data is processed by service providers needed to operate Groopay:
- Supabase: Database and authentication infrastructure
- RevenueCat: Subscription status management
- Apple and Google: Authentication and in-app purchase processing
- Legal authorities: Only when required by applicable law
6. Data Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Database access is protected by Row Level Security, and sensitive write operations use server-side authorization checks.
7. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from Account → Delete My Account inside the app. Account deletion removes personal data in accordance with the app's deletion flow and cannot be undone.
8. Children's Privacy
Groopay is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
9. Policy Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. The latest version and its effective date will always be available on this page.
